WhenI was 5 years old I was sexually assaulted by my uncle and although I've blocked most of the events out of my memory it is now when I realize that that is when all the pain began. My mother was a heavy drug user and I watched her growing up shooting up drugs and prostituting as a means for money to get drugs. By the age of 6 she began to sell me to a man in exchange for money. The sexual abuse and rape I encountered from this man is to terrible for me to even put in words he would gag me tie perform horrible acts of violence and sex on me while my mother watched.He would take pictures and record all of it ...eventually DCFS stepped in and took custody of my brother and I away from her since we were constantly left home alone for days with periods of no food. We were placed in care of an aunt (sister of my father I never knew) since my father was dealing with his own drug problems. Everything seemed to be getting better but after a while the stress of my aunt taking in 2 children that were not hers began to build and she became very emotionally and mentally abusive. By my 11th birthday her fiance began to molest me and with the fear of being horribly raped again I went to school and told a teacher...my aunt called me a liar and at 11 put me out leaving me confused and feeling alone. I began to smoke weed daily and hang out with a gang. By age 15 I became sexually active with a man twice my age..I looked for love through sex and found my self being used and abused. By 16, i under went 2 surgeries for masses found in my ovaries...I was still without any family and practically on the street on my own. I devoted my self to school knowing I would never have anything or anyone but myself and my knowledge.
      I graduated high school a year early and worked 10hr days so that I could live in my own place and provide for myself. I continued my studies and after 2 years found myself working in themedical field as an administrative medical assistant...I eventually got married and am now a mother to 2 amazing kids my son 3 and my daughter 1...my husband recently has become abusive and has cheated on me with other women but you know what???? i am 25 years old!!!!! And as young as i am I have survived sooo much. My life should be full of joy and I wouldn't settle for less so I began the separation process. I work 2 jobs now and I support myself and my kids with no help from anyone! Some days are tougher than others ! Having no real family can make you feel alone but having kids makes u want to be super human especially since I have to make up for the grandma and grandpa aunt and uncles they don't have. The trick really is not letting someone tell you your worth but instead giving your life value. Just recently I began radiation for cancer cells found in my ovaries. At 1st I felt scared but now the real fear is fear itself...There'­s nothing we can't overcome unless we tell ourselves we can't!!!!!!!! I hope this lady's story inspires at least 1 of the million young girls who are raped and abused and feel like they will never overcome their pain or sorrow..because­ even though the past stays with you ...,you can always use it to make yourself a better person...YOUR PAST IS WHAT SHOULD MAKE YOU STRONG,WONDERFUL AND BOLD!!!!!!!!!!!!

Even Psychology has recognized the power of positive confessions or thoughts. We humans are the only mammals/ animals who can change their cognitive processes and mentality anytime we wish. A lion cannot change the way it thinks or acts or even responds...ever !! When we spend time visualizing ourselves in our ideal lifestyle, we begin to stir our desire for those kinds of things in our lives. That desire has to be expressed in spoken words to yourself in order to make it seem attainable in your current life. The more you tell yourself who you want to be, the more desire you'll have to be that person. The more desire you have then, the more you will tell yourself who you are and the bridge between who you are now and who you want to be is your words and your desire. Confessing positive things to yourself will stir up your soul (mind, will and emotions) on any day. Even if your circumstances are humbling, your soul will be stirred and energized. Words are more powerful than what people think and that is a fact.

 Imagine a sweet little innocent girl living with a single parent, an alcoholic who verbally abuses and tears her daughter apart. She tells her how bad she is at everything and how she will neverbe good enough for anyone and how she messed up her relationships with men simply because she's her daughter. Now these are all words, right? I mean they’re intangible but they’re real. So what happens to this poor girl's esteem and cognitive processes? They change and not for the better. They begin to slowly occupy her mind and soon they begin to cause her to act a certain way and soon she becomes everything her mother told her she would be. Words are essentially power because words carry power; power cannot exist without words. So start today and confess positive things in your life and trust me things will change.

Banfi, a father-of-two from Switzerland, said: 'As the snake had just eaten it didn't take much interest in us.'Everything is possible but I don't think it would have eaten us. I was very close, I could have touched it if I wanted to.'

Teenagers arrested over Islamic boarding school blaze The £3,000 a year boarding school opened in 1988, is one of the oldest Islamic seminaries in the UK. Four teenagers have been arrested on suspicion of arson following a fire at an Islamic boarding school. Almost 130 pupils and teachers had to be evacuated from the Darul  Uloom London Islamic School in Chislehurst, south east London, after a fire broke out. Scotland Yard said two 17-year-olds and two 18-year-olds were detained late last night and taken to a south London police station, where they remain in custody.

First woman in space ready for 'one-way flight to Mars.Russia's Valentina Tereshkova, the first woman to go to space, said on Friday she was ready to score another coup and fly to Mars, even if it would be just a one-way trip."Mars is my favourite planet," the76-year old told a news conference in Zvyozdny Gorodok(Star City) outside Moscow, home to a cosmonaut training centre.Tereshkova, who became a national heroine at the tender age of 26 when she made a solospace flight in 1963, said she had been part of the group who studied the possibility of going to the Red Planet."But we know the human limits. And for us this remains a dream.Most likely the first flight will be one way. Rooney appears to be unwilling to work with former boss David Moyes, who says that he would like to keep him. Arsenal have been the most heavily linked with Rooney, although there are a number of clubs who would love tho get his signature, like Wigan.Arsenal have also been linked to Real Madrid hitman Gonzalo Higuain, who has also asked for a move. Arsenal and Juventus look to be the front runners to get his signature, but the player says that there are a number of clubs after his signature.Higuain is 25 years old and has played over 200 times for Real Madrid scoring over 120 goals. Locals and tourists in the Israeli town of Kiryat Yam have been flocking to the coast in hopes of glimpsing a creature that most people believe only exist in fairy tales.An alleged mermaid, said to resemble a cross between a fish and a young girl, only appears at sunset. It performs a few tricks for onlookers before disappearing for the night.One of the first people to see the mermaid, Shlomo Cohen, said, "I was with friends when suddenly we saw a woman laying on the sand in a weird way. At first I thought she was just another bather, but when we approached she jumped into the water and disappeared. It had been a very long night. Our black cocker spaniel ‘Precious’ was having a difficult delivery. I lay on the floor beside her large four-foot square cage, watching her every movement. Watching and waiting, just in case I had to rush her to the veterinarian.After six hours the puppies started to appear. The first-born was black and white. The second and third puppies were tan and brown in color. The fourth and fifth were also spotted black and white. “One, two, three, four, five,”I counted to myself as I walked down the hallway to wake my wife, Judy, and tell her that everything was fine.As we walked back down the hallway and into the spare bedroom, I noticed a sixth puppy had been born and was now laying all by itself over to the side of the cage. I picked up the small puppy and laid it on top of the large pile of puppies, who were whining and trying to nurse on the mother. Precious immediately pushed the small puppy away from rest of the group. She refused to recognize it as a member of her family.“Something’s wrong,” said Judy.I reached over and picked up the puppy. My heart sank inside my chest when I saw the little puppy had a cleft lip and palate and could not close its little mouth. I decided right there and then that if there was any way to save this animal I was going to give it my best shot.I took the puppy to the vet and was told nothing could be done unless we were willing to spend about a thousand dollars to try and correct the defect. He told us that the puppy would die mainly because it could not suckle. After returning home, Judy and I decided that we could not afford to spend that kind of money without getting some type of assurance from the vet that the puppy had a chance to live. However, that did not stop me from purchasing a syringe and feeding the puppy by hand. Which I did every day and night, every two hours, for more than ten days. The little puppy survived and learned to eat on his own as long as it was soft canned food.The fifth week I placed an ad in the newspaper, and within a week we had people interested in all of the pups, except the one with the deformity. Late one afternoon I went to the store to pick up a few groceries. Upon returning I happened to see the old retired school teacher, who lived across the street from us, waving at me. She had read in the paper that we had puppies and was wondering if she might get one from us for her grandson and his family. I told her all the puppies had found homes, but I would keep my eyes open for anyone else who might have an available cocker spaniel. I also mentioned that if someone should change their mind, I would  let her know.

Within days, all but one of the puppies had been picked up by their new families. This left me with one brown and tan cocker as well as the smaller puppy with the cleft lip and palate.Two days passed without me hearing anything from the gentleman who had been promised the tan and brown pup.I telephoned the school teacher and told her I had one puppy left and that she was welcome to come and look at it. She advised me that she was going to pick up her grandson and would come over at about eight o’clock that evening.That night at around seven-thirty, Judy and I were eating supper when we heard a knock on the front door. When I opened the door, the man who had wanted the tan and brown pup was standing there. We walked inside, took care of the adoption details and I handed him the puppy. Judy and I did not know what we would do or say when the teacher showed up with her grandson. At exactly eight o’clock the doorbell rang. I opened the door, and there was the school teacher with her grandson standing behind her. I explained to her the man had come for the puppy after all, and there were no puppies left. “I’m sorry, Jeffery. They found homes for all the puppies,” she told her grandson.Just at that moment, the small puppy left in the bedroom began to yelp.“My puppy! My puppy!” yelled the little boy as he ran out from behind his grandmother.I just about fell over when I saw that the small child also had a cleft lip and palate. The boy ran past me as fast as he could, down the hallway to where the puppy was still yelping. When the three of us made it to the bedroom, the small boy was holding the puppy in his arms. He looked up at his grandmother and said, “Look, Grandma. They found homes for all the puppies except the pretty one, and he looks just like me.”
The school teacher turned to us, “Is this puppy available?”“Yes,” I answered. “That puppy is available.”The little boy, who was now hugging the puppy, chimed in, “My grandma told me these kind of puppies are real expensive and that I have to take real good care of it.”The lady opened her purse, but I reached over and pushed her hand back down into her purse so that she would not pull her wallet out. “How much do you think this puppy is worth?” I asked the boy. “About a dollar?” “No. This puppy is very, very expensive,” he replied.“More than a dollar?” I asked.“I’m afraid so,” said his grandmother.The boy stood there pressing the small puppy against his cheek. “We could not possibly take less than two dollars for this puppy,” Judy said, squeezing my hand. “Like you said, it’s the pretty one.”The school teacher took out two dollars and handed it to the young boy.“It’s your dog now, Jeffery. You pay the man.”Still holding the puppy tightly, the boy proudly handed me the money. Any worries I’d had about the puppy’s future were gone.The image of the little boy and his matching pup stays with me still. I think it must be a wonderful feeling for any young person to look at themselves in the mirror and see nothing, except “the pretty one.”

Imagine a lake that's never been affected by climate change or any other man-made influences.Australian scientists say they have found just that—a remote lake whose crystal-clear waters seem to be in the same chemical state as they were about 7,500 years ago."It's like God's bathtub," Dr. Cameron Barr told the Australian Associated Press of the body of water now named Blue Lake . "It is beautiful. It is absolutely beautiful."Barr and his team of researchers from the University of Adelaide say the lake—one of the largest on North Stradbroke Island off the south Queensland coast, according to the AAP—is so pure that you can see more than 30 feet below the surface to its bottom."It appears that Blue Lake has been an important climate 'refuge' for the freshwater biota of the region, and is in the same condition now as it was 7,500 years ago ," Barr told the Australian Broadcasting Corporation.Barr, who published his findings in the current issue of Freshwater Biology , said it's the only such lake of its kind known to be in Australia.To reach its conclusion, the team studied the lake’s water quality, fossil pollen and algae, which team members then compared with photos taken of nearby areas on the island over the past 117 years.Several other nearby former lakes have dried up over the past 40 years due to climate change, Barr noted. In fact, Barr's team was on North Stradbroke to study the effects of those former bodies of water when his team stumbled across the anomaly that is Blue Lake.The lake’s water has remained unchanged, said Barr, because its waters drain into a nearby swamp and are replaced by an aquifer every 35 days or so."Because it's constantly being updated. It doesn't suffer from the vagaries of the climate in so far as it doesn't evaporate and become more saline," Barr told the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. "It doesn't fill up and become fresher. It just remains constant."Barr said something as small as sunscreen samples from tourists could alter the lake’s chemistry.

My third story is about death.When I was 17, I read a quote that went something like: “If you live each day as if it was your last, someday you’ll most certainly be right.” It made an impression on me, and since then, for the past 33 years, I have looked in the mirror every morning and asked myself: “If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I am about to do today?” And whenever the answer has been “No” for too many days in a row, I know I need to change something.Remembering that I’ll be dead soon is the most important tool I’ve ever encountered to help me make the big choices in life. Because almost everything — all external expectations, all pride, all fear of embarrassment or failure –these things just fall away in the face of death, leaving only what is truly important. Remembering that you are going to die is the best way I know to avoid the trap of thinking you have something to lose. You are already naked. There is no reason not to follow your heart.About a year ago I was diagnosed with cancer. I had a scan at 7:30 in the morning, and it clearly showed a tumor on my pancreas. I didn’t even know what a pancreas was. The doctors told me this was almost certainly a type of cancer that is incurable, and that I should expect to live no longer than three to six months. My doctor advised me to go home and get my affairs in order, which is doctor’s code for prepare to die. It means to try to tell your kids everything you thought you’d have the next 10 years to tell them in just a few months. It means to make sure everything is buttoned up so that it will be as easy as possible for your family. It means to say your goodbyes.I lived with that diagnosis all day. Later that evening I had a biopsy, where they stuck an endoscope down my throat, through my stomach and into my intestines, put a needle into my pancreas and got a few cells from the tumor. I was sedated, but my wife, who was there, told me that when they viewed the cells under a microscope the doctors started crying because it turned out to be a very rare form of pancreatic cancer that is curable with surgery. I had the surgery and I’m fine now.

This was the closest I’ve been to facing death, and I hope it’s the closest I get for a few more decades. Having lived through it, I can now say this to you with a bit more certainty than when death was a useful but purely intellectual concept:No one wants to die. Even people who want to go to heaven don’t want to die to get there. And yet death is the destination we all share. No one has ever escaped it.And that is as it should be, because Death is very likely the single best invention of Life. It is Life’s change agent. It clears out the old to make way for the new. Right now the new is you, but someday not too long from now, you will gradually become the old and be cleared away. Sorry to be so dramatic, but it is quite true.Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.When I was young, there was an amazing publication called The Whole Earth Catalog, which was one of the bibles of my generation. It was created by a fellow named Stewart Brand not far from here in Menlo Park, and he brought it to life with his poetic touch. This was in the late 1960′s, before personal computers and desktop publishing, so it was all made with typewriters, scissors, and polaroid cameras. It was sort of like Google in paperback form, 35 years before Google came along: it was idealistic, and overflowing with neat tools and great notions.Stewart and his team put out several issues of The Whole Earth Catalog, and then when it had runits course, they put out a final issue. It was the mid-1970s, and I was your age. On the back cover of their final issue was a photograph of an early morning country road, the kind you might find yourself hitchhiking on if you were so adventurous. Beneath it were the words: “Stay Hungry. Stay Foolish.” It was their farewell message as they signed off. Stay Hungry. Stay Foolish. And I have always wished that for myself. And now, as you graduate to begin anew, I wish that for you.Stay Hungry. Stay Foolish.
